Here are some street portraits I've shot over the past year. If I see someone interesting, I approach them with a compliment and tell them something I like. I really like that hat or great tattoo. I'll start talking to them about it. Tell them why I'm shooting. I'm in a photo club I have to photograph 50 strangers before Thursday. Something like that. The background matters because you want to get a sense of the street in the shot. When I shoot, I try to get a different angle that seems to be the trick. Because they have already started to pose. That I don't want.

Beautiful day office workers where out. It was great seeing the shadows being that dark. Spent my time trying to play with the light. F14 400 ISO 1/500. I should have shot a 1/250 f16, oh well, my bad.

In this photograph I like the shadow, camera right. It looks like a dragon or alligator. Im trying to shoot in the business area. I think a place like East Hastings has been over photographed. Saying that, It still needs to be scene by other Canadians.

I'm trying a new approach. Standing on a busy corner around lunch time. Not walking around looking for a shot but letting the people come to me. Doing the blending in thing with the crowd. Seems to work well. I stand near a light poll or news paper box etc. I guess, I become part of the scene. Some times it gets so busy I don't no where to point my camera. I decided just to pick a subject like cell phones ect... makes it a lot easer.
